Hey guys, Zi Jin here, and this is the Pipo W9s. If you follow MobileTechAsia at all, you’ve probably heard or read the issues I’ve had with this laptop. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get it to work, but eventually I did. I’m going to try to be as unbiased as possible in this review, and honestly after some deep soul searching, I like this laptop a lot. It’s powered by a Cherry Trail processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. Even then, this laptop is not gonna be for everyone, so keep on watching to see if this is right for you. I’m also going to talk about the issues I encountered as well. You can get it from Gearbest . Continue reading after the break!
|14.1″ 1366×768 IPS Display||Intel Atom Cherry Trail Z5-X8300 Quad Core 1.33GHz|
|4GB RAM + 64GB ROM||8MP + 5MP Camera|
|Windows 10||2 Full USB, MicroUSB, headphone, HDMI, SD card|
So the laptop looks the exact same as the Macbook Air. They copied the signature Macbook Air taper as well. However, it’s made of plastic that looks a lot like the Macbook’s aluminum, but obviously doesn’t feel as good.
It’s a little wider and taller than both the Macbook Air and the Macbook Pro because it has a 14″ screen where both macbooks have a 13″ screen. It’s also around 1.5kg or 3lbs, but the weight is very well distributed, so it feels super light.
You get 2 USB 3 ports, one on each side, a MicroUSB port, a HDMI port and the micro SD card slot as well.
The laptop hinge is pretty stiff and can rotate up to 130 degrees and doesn’t feel like it’s going to get loose anytime soon. The keyboard is OK, but the keys themselves are low quality plastic. The trackpad is actually quite OK, but only when using one finger. Any multi finger gesture and it’s really bad.
Build quality here is actually not that bad, but some of the material choices like the plastic bezel around the screen really make this laptop look worse than it really is. Other than that, gestures on the trackpad are really the only other thing to be desired here.
